The Restaurant Challenge

The students were given the challenge of creating and opening their own fictitious restaurant.  They have worked with groups to chose the themes of their restaurants, the menu and to create a visual element that will draw people to try out their establishment.

We are asking people to take a look at the 3 different restaurant options and to choose their favourite.

The competition is based on the following factors:

1. Creativity - how creative the menus & the artwork is
2. Artwork - how well is the artwork done
3. English - how well is the English written
4. Overall - the overall presentation

If I had to go to live on a deserted island, I will pack my cellphone first. I can call my friends or my family. And if I have an emergency situation, I can call 119.

Third is food. I can't live without food.

The next is water. I can't live without this, too.

And fifth, I will bring clothes. If I wear same clothes everyday, then I will be very dirty.

True Friendship is Precious

Nowadays, I feel tired easily. So, I really want to go to the beach. Because I want to enjoy swimming and resting. First, I want to go to the beach. Second, I want to have a new cellphone. Money and friends are really important in our life! Without money we can’t buy things that we need and friends are a person that shares life but what if someone will ask you to choose between having a lot of friends and no money or having a lot of money but no friends?

I guess it is a really difficult question! But I’ll choose a lot of friends but no money because being lonely is really more terrible than being poor.

When I transferred schools everything is new! School, house, friends…. So I didn’t have friends, it took a long~~ time to make friends so I really hate to be lonely! And if I will have a lot of friends even I didn’t have money I can enjoy life and my friends can help me!

In my opinion making friends is harder than making money so I prefer friends over money.

I Will Buy, Buy, Buy ...

If I won 1 million dollars I would buy many things and save money.

I Love Chicken

If I had to eat one thing, l would want to eat chicken.

I love to eat chicken. Maybe l get chicken, l must have eaten it. Mt father loves to eat chicken, too. I think all people love to eat chicken. Chicken is delicious.

I love to eat pizza, too. But I don’t like its taste. Because of my older brother, l have eaten chicken. Many chickens are in the world. I like spicy chicken. My younger brother doesn’t like spicy chicken.

I go to an academy. I’m very tired and hungry. So I come to my home, l have to eat something. Therefore I usually eat chicken after I come home.

But maybe if I eat chicken every day, I will be very fat. If I will be very fat, I can’t play any sports. I love to play basketball. But jumping is very important in basketball. Maybe if I am fat, I can’t jump higher than before. However I love to eat chicken.

Everyone Has Their Own Dream

A Teacher

I want to be a teacher in the future. This dream has not changed since I was 7 years old.

I have to study very hard to become a teacher. Because teachers have to teach children and I have to have a lot of experience, too. If I have a lot of experiences, I can teach this to my children. And I can advise, too. I have to love children. When I am kind to my children, some children will be kind to me, also but some other children will oppose me sometimes.

But I want to be a teacher who all children like and respect as a teacher.

I Would be a Bird

If I can be born again I want to be born as a bird because if I were a bird I can fly and travel the world for free. I really want to travel the world but it can cost a lot of money and I have a lot of things to do such as studying and enjoying life(listen to music, do crafts….) but if I were a bird I would have a lot of time to travel because a bird’s job is to sleep and eat…

Because lawyers can help and speak for people who don’t have power. Also I can earn a lot of money, then I will be rich. But my necessary purpose is if I study harder, I can come to be a popular and famous lawyer. It means, I can see my results, if I work hard and do my best.

So, I love my future job as a lawyer. What can I do for my future job? First of all, I must have a modest character because lawyers have a good image. So I will be modest character. I cannot watch this, but I can watch reruns.

I Want to Meet Lionel-Messi

I want to meet an Argentina famous soccer player Lionel-Messi.

I want to meet him very much, because he is my favorite soccer player and he is also my hero, and I want to introduction him, because he lives too hard and he has growth trouble.

He has a growth trouble so his height is only 169cm so when I watch TV he looks smaller than other players but he overcomes that and these day he is one of the best soccer players in the world, and also he plays in a famous soccer club, Barcelona. He plays with Henry, Ebrahimbich and Xavi.

I think he is the best soccer player in the world because he overcomes that growth trouble and makes his dribble skill so I think he is the No.1 soccer player in the world.

About the Blog

This blog was created as a project for my ESL Writing Class. 

With the help of the students in the class, I have put together a list of different fun topics for the students to write about and express themselves through. 

I think that in order to get the most out of writing, you have to enjoy what you are writing about.  And while there is grammar to be learned, I wanted the students to have an opportunity to write and use a different type of media, (stepping outside the typical pen and paper method.)  Blogs can be a great deal of fun, and are becoming a very powerful communication tool.

At this point it's just an expirement, but one that I am hoping is that the blog will bring enjoyment to both the students, and their parents as they are able to easily go online to see their child's progress.

While I do some editing of the students writing, their thoughts, opinions and ideas are all their own.  I expect to see a great deal of creativity and a learning curve as the project progresses throughout this semester.

If I had to go live on a deserted Island. I would be lonely and scared. So I will bring

some things.

First, I would go with my family,

If I had to go with my family, I would not be scared.

And I would feel relief.

Second. Also I would go there with my friends.

This' reason is the same as the first reason.

Third, I would bring an icebox.

I could put some food in an icebox, when I get food.

If so, I could keep food for a long time.

Fourth, I would bring my clothes.

And I would wear my clothes, I would be warm and it can provide protection for me.

Fifth, I would bring guns. In case, I would meet a fierce animal.

I must protest myself from a fierce animal. So I would bring guns.

Sixth, I would bring my cell phone, At one time, it would be useful to me.

Last, I would bring my note left behind by a dead person.

Things I Want to Accomplish in 2010

Topic: things that I want to accomplish in 2010

Every new year we make things to accomplish and some people really try hard to achieve but others just make things to accomplish but don't try hard to achieve. I was one of the people like that, but from this year on I will be different. I made things that I can achieve and I will really try to achieve. I made three things to fufill. Some might think this is very little but accomplishing the things is more important than making a lot of things to fufill.

 So now I will tell what my three things to achieve are. First I will not bite my nails! I have bitten my nails for a long time and my nails look very ugly. Sometimes I want to put nail polish and nailarts on, since my nails are short and ugly I can't do it! And i'm shy to show my hands to other people, every year I try to not bite my nails but I didn't fufill it but before this year will end I want to make my nails long and pretty.

 Secondly I want to make my grades higher. I think I'm a really lazy studier! And also I don't sit in the chair for a long time because I feel like my body it aching everywhere and I can't concentrate. I will conquest those things so that I can study harder.

 Lastly I will try to change my hand writing. Sometimes I can't annalize what I write:)

Only Bringing 7 Things

First, I'll bring lot of saws.

Probably the Island has a lot of trees. So I will make a house, boats, furniture, and bathroom.^^Then I'll live in there very comfortably.

I have done many things up until now. I don’t like all of the things that I have done. My most favorite thing to do is surf the internet. With the internet I can get a lot of information and I can have fun, too. So I like it.

Second is watch TV or movies. There are many interesting things. I am sometimes impressed by TV programs.

Third is listenings to music. There are many good songs in the world. When I am listening to music, I’m very happy and then I sing and follow the music.

The next is sleep. After sleeping I feel refreshed.

Fifth is making things. I feel good when I am finished working.

And also I would like to travel places. There are many good places to go.

Lastly is shopping. I can buy many things that I need.

My 3 Wishes

First, I want to have a cell phone because my mom doesn’t give a cell phone to me. I am so sad. Nowadays many people have cell phones. However l don’t have a cell phone. Cell phones are convenient. So I want to buy a cell phone.



Second, I want to buy a computer. I have a computer but it’s not mine. It’s my family’s computer. I want to have my own computer. The computer is a very funny thing. If I want to play a game, I can use my computer. But I don’t play computer games because my mom says “Don’t use this computer to play computer games.” So I don’t play computer games on my family’s computer. I want to buy my own computer.



Last, l want to study very hard. I don’t study very well right now. Especially I don’t listen to English well. My parents are angry. So I study English hard but it’s too hard. I go to academy everyday and I study hard in the academy. Nevertheless my results are down. Why? I study hard but my results are so bad, I am so sad. So l want to study very hard. These are my three wishes.

I have three wishes.

First of all, I really want my middle school life to be comfortable. Because many people say middle school teachers are very scary. So I want kind teachers , also I want kind students. I considered my school. But the best of middle schools was Non-Hyun middle school. Anyway, I believe my school is the best in Non-Hyun.

My second wish … my second wish is I really want my mother to not be angry anymore. Because nowadays, my brother says bad words to my parents, he uses money every day. Then my mom is angry every day because of my brother! When I see my mom’s tears, I’m so sad. So, I will make my mom happy.

My favourite subject is science and my hobby is listening to music.  My interests are doing crossstiches and knitting.

I have a lot of friends but I will introduce my classmates. The girls - Stacy, Kelly, Grace, Diana. The boys - Royce, John, Dick.

My classmates make English class fun.

Lastly, I will introduce my family members. My father, mother, younger sister (Sunny,) younger brother (Joseph) and me!
